JEFFREY L. MALEK
Jeff is a well known trial lawyer in the area of labor and employment practices. He is an adjunct professor at UCLA, UCI and California State University-Dominguez Hills, teaching on Labor, Ethics and various OSHA topics. Jeff graduated with honors from UCLA & Loyola Law School and is an AV-rated attorney.
Jeff is a popular speaker on many employment related topics such as ADA claims, wrongful termination, discrimination and employment contracts, OSHA and safety concerns, etc. He is a registered Safety & Security Professional with the California Society of Safety and Security Professionals and the immediately two time past President of that organization as well as being a member of their Advisory Board. He has also litigated product liability claims surrounding safety and machine design.
He advises and litigates securities and fraud matters as well as unfair competition and trade secrets. Jeff is an active arbitrator for FINRA (formally NASD). He is frequently consulted by clients in the e-commerce and software industries regarding employment, trade secret and unfair competition issues.
Jeff’s approach to the law is a mixture of pragmatism and aggressive trial work. While employment issues have been his focus, his experience & client mix bring a unique expertise that supports a client’s enterprise-wide goals.
Having worked within the insurance industry for many years, Jeff has been approved to represent carriers and their insured’s as panel counsel . He has also presented employers in criminal investigations arising from work place accidents and violence claims.
Jeff is an active member of his community and involved in a number of philanthropic projects. He has served as President of the Torrance Rotary Club and Assistant Governor of his Rotary District. He is currently District Legal Counsel. Both he and his wife are Paul Harris Fellows. They maintain residences in both Southern and Northern California, are avid cyclists and European classic auto collectors.
